I graduated from high school in the middle of the build up for Operation Desert Storm. Rather than heading straight to college, I decided to enlist in the Army. My plan at the time was to serve a few years and then go back to college. Instead, I fell in love with wearing a uniform in service to my country. Over the next ten years, I served three combat tours, and endured the challenges and hardships associated with more remote training deployments than I can count. Halfway through my career, I was asked to serve in the Army Recruiting Command. It was a massive change from the life I had become accustomed to, but I leaned into this new adventure. I had the honor of being the Army’s face in the community and assisting young men and women as they navigated the process of entering the military. Day after day, week after week, I got to break the poverty cycle for families, and empower people to achieve greatness. When I retired from the Army, I worked in a number of positions in the private sector. I excelled at each of them, but the ones I relished and enjoyed most were those that empowered me to help people. I went to law school in order to expand my ability to work on behalf of others - to help them solve complex problems. During my studies, I have worked in an array of positions as an intern and volunteer. I have enjoyed aspects of each and every experience, but those that have meant the most to me have involved communicating with people one-on-one, like client intake, will clinics, and deposition preparation. I am currently seeking a position that will challenge me, and serve as a catalyst for my growth as an attorney. Over the last thirty years, I have been a key player in several organizations. I believe I have had a positive impact on each of them. My finest moments, though, have come when I have been tasked with developing creative solutions while operating in a public-facing role.
