I have had the opportunity to work at every level classification, 1A-6A in the state of Kansas. Every career move has helped to make a positive impact on my development and drive to be a building principal. These experiences in working with students on Career and College readiness standards, promoting extracurricular participation in fine arts and sports, as well as working with students and parents to promote a positive, communication-friendly educational experience are key attributes that I feel would be a perfect fit for your company.My resume reflects the varied experiences I have had teaching a variety of courses through the years. I have been placed into positions with very little background knowledge of the subject matter and have always found success by taking a student-centered approach. These situations have led me to explore different teaching methods than the ones I learned in my college courses. I currently utilize project-based assessment strategies in the classroom and have mentored many first-year teachers regarding this inclusive instructional strategy. My focus on PBL has stemmed greatly from my work as a theater, debate, and forensics teacher over the years. I have served witness to the immense power that getting students involved in activities can have over kids feeling a sense of belonging within their school. When students are involved, their hard-work and efforts result in more responsible, respectful choices when dealing with their peers and academic pursuits. As a veteran educator, I have a special place in my heart for communicating with teachers, principals, and parents to get them “on board” with improving their child’s educational journey. My experience in the English and Communications classrooms has honed my abilities to communicate with all parties. I always find success in working with all parties to overcome challenges with a team-centered approach. Finding new solutions to recurring problems sometimes requires a fresh perspective. COVID protocols forced all of us to explore a new perspective especially in terms of technology. Prior to quaren-teaching, technology was already a major component of my classroom organizational structure. I have been teaching virtual content in a way that promotes transformative uses of technology and my students would not be capable of learning as much without their chromebook to enhance their education.
