Gaita specialise in music of the Courts of Europe from 12th - 15th centuries, with emphasis on song and instrumental music from Scotland, France, Italy, and particularly 15th C dance music. Workshops on realising and performing 15th C dance musicThe first dance manuals in history come from mid-15th Italy. These include choreographies, descriptions of style and music. Much of the music is presented as a 'tenor' - a bare framework of notes that was a base around which instrumentalists improvised. The workshops introduce and lead instrumentalists through the process of realising a full performance. These can be combined with dance workshops lead by Cait Webb.Suitable for all instruments - period instruments are a bonus but the workshops are more about how to think about the music.
