I have 44 years experience as an Occupational Psychologist and am now a retired. I joined the Civil Service in 1970 and held a number of senior posts including Head of Aircrew Training Research with the RAF and Head of Personnel Psychology at the Army Personnel Research Establishment (APRE) where I conducted research into staff selection, retention, leadership, motivation and morale and organisational change. I transferred to the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency, (DERA) in 1994 as a Project Manager and Principal Psychologist at the Centre for Human Sciences responsible for research on recruitment, selection and organisational development and change. In 1997 I became a Technical Manager at QinetiQ Ltd where I was responsible for Occupational Psychology in the People in Organisations Business Group. The group carried out projects for government and business clients on organisational change, training, staff selection and retention and performance.
