I was hired for the summer during having completed my degree in Computer Science before returning to go on to the honours year. At the end of the summer vacation I was offered a contract position which I decided was probably more value that than going back for honours year. During the two year period I became manager of the IT support team covering the Piper Redevelopment Project. This team grew from being myself to a team of 5. My responsibilities included all project team computer systems including AS400 and all PC. Installation of IBM token Ring network and connection of remote sites, including dive support vessels in the North Sea.

I attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst on the Short Service Commission course and was commissioned into the Gordon Highlanders as a Platoon Commander. I served in Central America, West Germany and Edinburgh, as a Platoon Commander, Training Platoon Commander and Anti Tank Platoon Commander.
