I have worked for a manufacturer of water and O&G meters for nineteen years. Around 2013 I began unofficial training with Buyer responsibilities working with internal associates and vendors for goods and services. I accepted a Junior Buyer position in January 2015 handling raw material blanket releases and RFQ's. As I was promoted to Buyer I, Buyer II and Senior Buyer, I dabbled in many tactical and strategic procurement activities. Some include: contract review and negotiation, implementing VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory), project management, many savings projects, working with cross-functional teams, mentoring, MRO & Indirect spend responsibilities, CARs (Capital Appropriation Requests), reconciling Finance and AP issues and Terms/Payment Type improvement, vendor risk and rationalization, supplier improvement on many issues such as quality, delivery and cost. Project buying for exotic materials with high specs/testing requirements has been rewarding, not just due to the complexity, but because of my experiences in coordinating and organizing many processes, meeting deadlines under budget, vendor relationships and great internal and external communication and customer service. This has helped me use critical and creative thinking for outside the box solutions and thrive in a team environment or work individually with minimal supervision.
