This is a high-energy startup with so much potential! My time there was challenging, but in the fun way. I got to use many of the tools in my chest every day; I got to lead but stay close to my teams, advising and sharing my experiences with them along the way to help them achieve the business' goals as well as their own. I was never afraid to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty if that's what it took. I was still the leader, but I always walked amongst my troops and treated them with respect.I built and led the DevOps organization while simultaneously leading a software engineering sprint team. I used my previous experience in team building, software engineering, product management, planning, and mentorship to keep the teams informed and invigorated. My sprint team worked on four different product codebases over the course of my tenure. I helped them get through the shifting priorities and context shifts so they could be productive quickly. I worked closely with Product every step of the way to ensure my team would be able to deliver successfully. With the DevOps organization in place, I wrote several policies and procedures, implemented a multi-region highly-available cloud infrastructure on AWS, brought us into security compliance, developed numerous automation initiatives, reduced overall costs and expenses of our infrastructure, and increased transparency across the business.

I manage a ragtag gang of software engineers building cutting edge communications products for aerospace, security, and other specialized applications. We have best-in-class voice communications products that make it easier to put people (and, occasionally, cars) into space. I am tasked with leading my team in building the next generations of our software, modernizing it for a new era, and taking our platforms into the next 50 years. I have introduced modern design patterns, project management, and organizational changes which will allow us to be more flexible and responsive to our customers' needs than ever before. Most importantly, my engineers know I am there for them, for whatever they may need at any time of day or night. I will always be their biggest cheerleader and staunchest defender.

I work on various mobile application projects targeted for the Android platform. My time is primarily spent in Kotlin, though I still use Java regularly for legacy or in-conversion projects outside of moovel. I believe in strong communication and coordination between functional teams and departments, and work towards fostering and strengthening those bonds. I also work on the services team writing code in javascript (node.js) and associated frameworks to provide back-end access to internal and external microservices and databases. I place a strong emphasis on information security and implementing security best practices in all the projects I am involved with.

Developed, executed, and continue to support and maintain a mobile strategy for a large workforce consisting of contractors, laborers, administrators, and clients needing a secure, easy-to-use, flexible mobile platform to view, edit, and submit property information from anywhere in the US. This app is written in Java for Android and Objective-C for iOS. There is currently no app/play store distribution for this app, however that is coming soon. It was inherited from a previous developer but has been approximately 90% re-written to modern coding standards on both platforms. I have personally implemented dozens of new features, a completely new user interface, and interfaced with other aspects of the business to make sure the app is delivering a high value return for the business while providing an elegant method for our field crews to perform their duties quickly and accurately.The near-term roadmap is to continue maintaining the current app and planning for the future, most likely going to Flutter due to the relatively basic needs of the app/device relationship. This should enable me to develop new features and fix issues more quickly, as well as increase the ROI for the business.
