Chris managed a Trading and Funds Management business, managing private money in Australian and international equities, foreign exchange markets and venture capital. During this period Chris was actively involved in several private company investments at a board and in an advisory capacity

Chris worked for Ord Minnett Group for 18 years starting their futures and funds management operations. He became CEO and Managing Director of Ord Minnett Group Ltd in 1994.At the end of his period as Group Managing Director, Ord Minnett was one of the top three institutional research, brokerage, corporate finance and retail equity investment banks in Australia and NZ based on agency business transacted. In 1999 it was acknowledged by Institutional Investor Magazine as the joint ‘Equity House of the Year’. Group funds under management had grown to $1.2 billion, and the Futures operation earlier dubbed by the press as the “jewel in the crown”, continued as one of the largest Members of the Sydney Futures Exchange. The margin lending business which Chris was a director and major proponent of, had been grown from a start up in the late 1980’s to the second largest in the industry before it was sold to the Bank of Adelaide in 1999 for $47 million. The group had grown to 800 staff and in excess of $200 million turnover with 13 offices nationally and internationally. Ord Minnett was sold to JP Morgan in 1999. From 1982 to 1993, Chris in the role of CEO and MD of of the futures and funds management arms of the group, started and built the futures business to number 1 market position in less than 5 years.In 1986 Chris developed and launched the worlds first bank capital guaranteed Derivative Funds Management product. This business has continued to build funds under management largely by the same management team that he put in place in the late 1980's and today has over A$7 billion under management. In 2000 Chris launched the groups first Australian Venture Capital FundChris served on a number of other boards including chairman of the retail stockbroking business from 1990 to 1992 and director in a joint venture with Lend Lease.Chris also sat on the board of Jardine Fleming Holdings Limited and Jardine Fleming Group Limited between 1995 and 1997
