In its place Arcadis organised an online work experience project for myself and another placement student. The project in question was to produce a concept design for the redevelopment of Leyton tube station, another station Arcadis are working on as part of the Step Free Access initiative.We produced a detailed report with a structural design for a new 2-storey concourse as well as a footbridge. Comparing our design with Arcadis’ actual solution gave us a useful insight into the decisions that need to be made for concept design. Overcoming the constraints of the project was an excellent learning experience, especially when evaluating the buildability of our design as there was little space for on-site construction. It was a huge benefit to carry on learning and working on an engineering project over the summer. Show less

I also worked on the Step Free Access initiative at several London stations. Responsible to the Project Manager, I assisted on the delivery of the detailed design. I gained a valuable insight into how a project functions when managing several deadlines in a short period. I held a diverse role on this project, setting up meetings with clients, compiling technical request forms for the client (TFL), and organising files in the project’s coordinated BIM program – Bentley Projectwise. After finishing A-Levels, I was hired as a barman by the Foxhole pub and kitchen. I worked in this role on three separate occasion: the autumn of 2016, the summer of 2017 after completing my season as a chalet host, and finally in the summer of 2018 after my first year of University. My role was diverse. I worked on the bar, as a waiter, and also in the kitchen.
