Responsible for providing specialist conservation advice to the local planning authority and concerning the Council’s own heritage assets including many grade I and II* listed buildings, registered parks, cemeteries and designed landscapes. Management of the Council’s enforcement programme for the delivery of key heritage priorities and several building at risk initiatives comprising an annual budget in excess of £1 million. Pre- application design advice, building condition surveys, grant applications, conservation area appraisals, master- planning, CPOs, procurement and negotiation with property owners over repairs and refurbishment work. Frequent contributor to Historic England, URBACT, IHBC and conservation officer group training days / CPD events.

Project Manager of UK's largest heritage lead regeneration programme focusing on vacant and derelict listed buildings within the Liverpool City boundary and UNESCO World Heritage Site.Conservation officer dedicated to the repair and re-use of historic buildings at risk in Liverpool. Responsible for the delivery of a £2.5m targeted programme which resulted in the successful repair and re-use of over 500 listed buildings in Liverpool and has stimulated more than £0.3bn of inward investment. The number of buildings at risk in Liverpool is now at a historic low of less than 3%.

Assistant Conservation Officer (2005-2006)Responsible for providing specialist conservation advice to the local planning authority, pre-application design advice, conservation area appraisals and co-ordination of the building at risk officer’s work programme.Buildings at Risk Officer, Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council (2003-2005)Full-time project officer with responsibility for completing the Borough’s buildings at risk survey (more than 2,500 listed buildings), production of an area action plan and implementation strategy. Established a successful funding scheme for buildings at risk through the use of planning delivery grant.

Carried out background research on The Buildings of Shropshire for a new edition as part of Pevsner's The Buildings of England series (published 2005).
