Continuing my journey at SHOP.CA, I am currently thriving in my role as a full time graphic designer. With the change in position, I have since taken on more responsibilities and have been given more creative freedom. At this time, I represent 50% of the creative team within the marketing department. I assist with the creation of email marketing design, daily homepage events, landing pages, assisting with copy-writing, and generating various other forms of content for the site daily.I am now communicating with various teams such as merchandising, social media, and our team of back end developers on a regular basis. Having these many lines of communication has helped me develop a strong level of attention to detail, problem solving skills, and a better understanding of the various moving parts that make the company work.I have also strengthened my ability to be agile, as projects often change at a moments notice. Working through the holiday season as a designer in an online retail environment has also tested and improved my endurance levels as it has demanded absolute focus when navigating fast approaching deadlines, last minute requests, and increased workloads.I am quite pleased as a graphic designer working for Canada’s first multi-merchant online marketplace, but am now ready to venture with my skills to new and exciting realms.
Currently, my role is split into two departments:Graphic Design:This position has allowed me to take my passion and education for graphic design to the next level by working with the creative and marketing team to execute projects at lightning speed, with premium results. Aside from providing aesthetically pleasing graphics, no project is to be pitched unless I am confident it could evoke an emotional response from the viewer. I've lent my skills to many campaigns, allowing my work to be shown onsite, through email marketing, in physical print at trade shows and even during TIFF. I have been pleased to also have provided design work onsite for our partners at Aeroplan.Regular tasks include brand banners, brand landing pages, production design, creative for flash sale events, assisting the social media team with ongoing campaigns contests and more. While working in a small marketing team, it would also be commonplace to provide copy writing under the approval of marketing directors.Customer Loyalty:Bridging together customers and suppliers in an online multi-merchant marketplace. In a post start-up environment, it's very common to wear many different hats.In this position I have assisted in writing various product buying guides and reviews, volunteered graphic design skills, assisted with managing schedules, monitored fraudulent credit activity, recruiting customers, contributing to ongoing best practices handbook, etc.At the core of this position my main objectives are to bring the highest levels of service and satisfaction to both customer and merchant. When this is achieved satisfaction is then brought to the company resulting in a "Win 3" approach.Servicing Customers:- Answering all inquiries via phone, email, online chat.- Providing technical support as well as insight towards policy and procedures.- Solving logistical challenges, helping customers find what they are looking for and ensuring a fully positive experience.
