About Chris Harned

Chris co-founded Windhover Capital in late 2020 with several longtime friends and colleagues to focus on Private Equity investing in the Consumer sector, with a primary focus on the Food, Beverage and Pet sub-sectors. Windhover’s strategy is to partner with business owners and business leaders to accelerate value creation through a range of techniques. Windhover views its financial and intellectual capital as transformational - allowing business leaders to take businesses to the next level and beyond. Chris was a Partner and Head of the New York office at Arbor Investments from 2016 through mid-2020. Chris had known and worked with the founders of Arbor for a decade before partnering with them to accelerate and expand deal flow. Chris led Arbor’s acquisition of Mars’ Private Label pet food business, now called Red Collar Pet Foods, and coordinated the successful and complicated carve-out of the business from Mars. He also led Red Collar’s acquisition of Hampshire Pet Products and its subsequent integration. From 2014 to 2016, Chris was head of Consumer Americas for Nomura. Chris joined RW Baird in December 2011 as a Managing Director in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group. He focuses on strategic advisory services, including M&A and Equity, in the Consumer sector. Prior to joining Baird, Chris was a Partner at The Cypress Group, a New York based Private Equity firm, where he was responsible for investments in the Consumer Products sector, including Meow Mix and Brand Connections. From 1985 through 2001, Chris was with Lehman Brothers in New York and London, ultimately serving as Head of Global Consumer M&A. Chris serves on the Board of Directors of Titan Frozen Fruit, Lakeview Farms, Southeastern Meats and Quad/Graphics. He is a former board member of FreshPet, Red Collar Pet Foods, the Philadelphia Media Group, bSwift, Brand Connections, Danka PLC, Meow Mix, North American Midway Entertainment, and Stone Canyon Entertainment. Chris earned a BA in History at Williams College, where he was captain of the golf team and NESCAC champion. He was also on the swim team and won the Grosvenor Memorial Award as the junior who best reflected the values and spirit of the College.
