Guest Advisor ManagerPetco Aug 2016 - PresentHickory/Lenoir, North Carolina AreaI began my time at Petco as the Merchandise Operations Specialist. In this position I wasresponsible for all of the inventory entering and leaving the store. I received the truck and madesure the store was fully stocked properly. I completed and updated all the planograms in thestore. I checked all inventory counts to make sure they are accurate so that we are receivingwhat we need to keep the shelves fully stocked. After several months I was promoted to thestore's guest adviser. This is a key-holding position. In this role I still have the sameresponsibilities I had in the merchandise operations role as well as managerial duties. I amasked to open and close the store, and am often the only manager in the store. Under myleadership we have gotten the store into better shape than it was in before I took the newposition. With my delegation and leadership skills, I am able to prioritize what needs to be done, and put the right people in place to get the job done. As my title indicates I am the person thattakes care of the customers more so than anyone else. My only goal is to make sure everycustomer leaves completely happy and wants to return. I educate all guests in the services weprovide and demonstrate strong product knowledge so that know exactly what the are getting. My goal is to make the team stronger and drive sales up to record levels. -
Cashier Team Lead And Footwear Team LeadAcademy Sports + Outdoors Jul 2015 - Jul 2016Concord, NcI handled all returns and exchanges that took place in the store. I was responsible for all of our store services that we offered, from our golf club trade in, tennis racquet restringing, propane tank exchanges, hunting and fishing licenses, assembly and delivery. I took care of all damaged items, making sure they were labeled properly and shipped away to our distribution center. After three months, I was promoted to full-time cashier team lead. I was responsible for all front end operations and the cash in the store. I would open the store on the controller, count the safe, balance tills, and distribute them to all the registers. Then I prepared the deposit bags for the day, the deposit log, and cashier cash-out sheets. Closing, I counted the safe and followed the closing procedures to close the store. I would fill and file all paper work, and record the sales totals for the day and compare it to the goal. I helped cashiers with problems that would arise and made sure the front in was running smoothly with no lines backing up. Other duties included communicating with Coca-Cola to place a coke order, placing a change orders, and working with GARDA when they came to pick up the deposit. I delegated front end duties, set front end planograms, and made daily lunch schedules. After several more months, I wanted to challenge myself with something different and I became the footwear team lead. As the footwear team lead I was responsible for delegating daily assignments, setting all footwear planograms, working overnights deep zoning and resetting the department, handling all of the mismate shoes by researching them and shipping them back to the distribution center. I work directly with representatives from the brands that we carry, on merchandising and product knowledge. I was responsible for all the price changes, removing and setting ad, and department signage. -
Commission Footwear Associate And Footwear SupervisorGander Mountain Feb 2013 - Jun 2015Mooresville, NcMy primary position at Gander Mountain was customer service and footwear associate. I polished my sales skills while working for Gander and took great pride in being and to explain and demonstrate the products we offered. I led the store in sales for my department for the majority of my time with the company. Each week I would come in at 5am on both of our truck days and process freight. I would complete my department’s freight and then go help with other departments. I was responsible for all the planograms, price changes, setting ad, and signage for the department. When I wasn’t selling shoes and footwear products, I was directing customers in other areas of the store or running the cash register. Anytime we started new associates, I was assigned to train them in all aspects of working for the company and making sure they understood our standards and procedures. I was on the stores travel team that went to all the other stores in the region to do store remodels and resets. This included following floorplans, setting planograms, demolishing old fixtures and gondolas and building new ones. I was also called upon to work overnights with one other person in our store to reset departments or organize stock rooms. I was always the go to man for jobs like that. -
Retail Store Team MemberCharlotte Bobcats Team Store Sep 2010 - Jun 2012Charlotte, NcAs a team member of the Charlotte Bobcats team store I was responsible for merchandising the store to catch the attention of our thousands of fans. On game nights I set up all the kiosks throughout the arena and made sure they were ready to operate by the time the fans arrived. This was a very high-paced work environment that would see the store get jam packed to capacity with fans of all kinds. Many were intoxicated and unruly. This job taught be patience and how to handle any kind of customer.
