Detail draughtsman in a contract drawing office.I began my employment working on a drawing board but in 1997 I moved on to Xsteel, or Tekla structures as it later became.Responsibilities in addition to detailing included overall responsibility of large projects, co-ordinating other detailers and apprentices, checking, variation tracking and reporting, pricing new and variation work and administration of Xsteel / Tekla software across all company PC's.Projects undertaken varied both in size and complexity from Multi storey London projects for leading UK fabricators to Metalwork and Stairs for local fabricators, but also included Portals, Design and Build, Refurbishments, Industrial, Art Galleries, Petrochemical and complex Architectural buildings and structures.

I also regularly spent time as a checker.Projects worked on included Power stations, Edinburgh conference centre, numerous supermarkets and the Isle of Man National Sports Centre - a complex curved tubular structure

Apprentice draughtsman in the small drawing office of a family owned company.Responsibilities included printing drawings, writing cutting lists, compiling fabrication issues and general office duties alongside learning to be a steel detail draughtsman on the drawing board.I also gained some experience doing drawings and paperwork for planning applications of industrial units, alongside some cladding drawing experience and I spent a period of time in the workshop to gain appreciation of fabrication methods.
