About Chris Healey
Chris is General Manager, Claims, at TAL. He was previously the Senior Executive of Service Strategy & Assurance, Assistant Commissioner, at the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). Chris is responsible for all aspects of claims operations and service. TAL paid $2.7billion in claims in 2021 and is the largest insurer in the Australia Life & Disability Insurance market. After 15yrs in the private sector, Chris moved in 2020 to an exciting public sector role, focussed on Government Economic stimulus measures during the Covid response. Chris and his team were responsible for shaping the direction of the ATO's future service experience, driving a united approach to ensure our service offering exceeds client expectations.In his previous corporate role, he was as the Global Head of Operational Excellence & Data Management at Swiss Re. He was responsible for strategic execution, operational excellence and technology investment globally across all markets. Prior to this Chris was the Head of Strategy & Operations (COO), across Life and Non-Life, for Australia & New Zealand.Chris worked in the (re)insurance industry for fifteen years in a variety of roles in both the primary and reinsurance sectors, across multiple markets (including Australia, NZ, Asia, UK, Ireland, and South Africa). He was heavily involved in the industry, previously as Treasurer of the Claims Management Group, serving on the ALUCA national board, and as part of the judging panel of the annual ANZIIF awards on numerous occasions. Chris was a finalist in the IFSA/Deloitte Future Leaders Award, the ANZIIF Young Insurance Professional award, and was an award winner of the ALUCA Turks legal scholarship. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the Medicine Faculty at the University of New South Wales, along with a Masters of Business Administration (Executive) from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM, UNSW). He is also a certified Project Manager. He has a passion for philanthropy and is also a member of the Global Entrepreneur's Program, establishing local English Learning centres in rural Mongolia.
