I have worked for a variety of charities at home and abroad, most recently specialising in supporting people into employment. Whilst visiting friends in Toronto I called in to a social enterprise, and decided I wanted to bring a similar model to Edinburgh. Thus the Edinburgh Tool Library was conceived.5 years since this opening, ETL has grown and developed into a multi-site operation, with over 900 members, classes, two workshops, tool lending and a mobile service. We are developing the idea that sharing should be easier than shopping, to make sure everyone in society can benefit from access to things, without the need to own them.My professional experience running a social enterprise has led me to be appointed to the board of directors of FirstPort, and most recently, FirstImpact.
