I started in B2B SaaS sales in healthcare, but over time I became more obsessed with how to answer questions and make predictions using data.As a result, my current role has me focused on helping health systems to make data-driven decisions & evaluate data products. This involves everything from presentations, attending trade shows, and developing analytic tools using Python & many data science tools such as pandas, sklearn, statsmodels, nltk, matplotlib, seaborn, networkx, Looker, Tableau, and many more SEO-buzzy terms. The most exciting parts of the work are eureka moments during the studies, learning new skills, and when the client understands the results and can improve processes!I've also helped teach data science at General Assembly, which brings its own joys when students apply work at their jobs or even get awesome new jobs as a result of their learnings. At IH, I work with sales, operations, finance, product, and marketing to help develop and execute a sales strategy. Without giving away too much (competitors are watching), that strategy is to give our sales execs the training, tools, and data they need to help healthcare marketing directors, VPs, and chiefs undertake major digital transformations. With years of experience in sales and ops, I wear many hats. Here are the top 3: 1. Training - Sales training in general needs an overhaul from the one (or two) and done annual training sessions. We now use sales pipeline data and training scorecards to identify training needs, solve problems, and measure results. There's no "Jump in the deep end and learn to swim" anymore here either. We teach you how to swim, give you floaties, and then throw you in the deep end. 2. Data - We used to capture sales activity, opportunities, and lead generation through a painful array of spreadsheets. Now, we access and report on this info easily through CRM. Data is power, and part of obtaining that power means using it to give your team the insights they need to drive business. Now, we're using a much more data driven approach for forecasting, goal & comp setting, sales coaching, and driving activity. 3. Smarketing (Sales + Marketing)- Again, don't want to reveal too much, but the current buyer journey in complex sales involves massive spurts of activity, followed by darkness, then neck-breaking activity again. Helping marketing drive a lock-step cadence with sales, we've been able to help the teams give our prospects what they want at each stage in their buyer journey. We've driven great results by focusing on training, fixing data problems, and getting departments to work with each other.
