Responsible for ensuring efficient system and network performance, tune availability and rapid resolution of operating system and network related issues. Strategic leadership in evaluating software solutions, coordinating system implementations, post-implementation reviews, providing training and technical guidance to internal staff and external parties when applicable.Duties include but are not limited to:Writing programs/interfaces/scripts to provide additional functionality for internal processes using FTP, VBScript, PowerShell, Visual Basic & Visual Studio. Assist Systems Development staff with various programming tasks.Install, configure & maintain various versions of Windows Operating systems on over 200 virtual and physical servers. Customize features, monitor resources and tune for performance.Maintain the City’s physical HP server infrastructure across three data centers. Responsible for racking and cabling as needed.Configure and maintain the SAN storage environment that provides storage for approx. 50 servers including a high availability NAS cluster for network storage. Experience with Infinidat’s Infinibox SAN storage and IBM’s XIV gen2/gen3. Cisco Switch/router administration for a Wide Area Network supporting over 85 city locations.Administer and maintain Barracuda enterprise backup solution for physical and virtual servers. Experience with EMC Avamar and IBM Tivoli backup solutions.

Successfully managed operations and maintenance of the City’s mainframe environment until the retirement of the mainframe in 2012.Duties included: • Planning and oversight of routine hardware upgrades (processor, disk & tape).• Installing and maintaining z/OS systems software and subsystems on production and test LPARs.• Installing & maintaining various third-party software solutions including tape management, console automation, source code archival and chargeback. • Designing and writing user exits and interfaces for various systems applications as required.• Maintaining disk/tape storage resources.• Administering resource security using IBM’s RACF.• Providing training to operations, technical and development staff.• Writing program and system documentation.
