Biodiesel / Renewable Diesel Blending Projects Worked these projects from conception to construction. Managed a team of ten people in the design of a ratio blending injection systems on West Coast. Worked with client and local city authorities to obtain all required building permits. The projects required new UL 142 tanks or conversion of existing tankage, blending skids, offloading and loading equipment. New transformers and MCC’s were also required on a few projects to handle increased power consumption.New Truck Rack and Ethanol Blending Projects Managed team of 30 people during the detailed design of two new truck rack and ethanol blending projects. Projects ranged from converting an existing top loading rack to an ethanol unloading and bottom loading facility with new ethanol storage to managing a grass roots truck rack and ethanol blending facility. Both projects include addition of new truck rack, product and ethanol metering and distribution, VCU’s, new additive tanks and injection systems, as well as new sumps. The grass-roots project also included new product pumps, MCC and larger transformer to power the new equipment. Projects had tight engineering and construction timelines, as a result we split some of the work between two different offices which allowed us to meet clients deadlines. Successfully negotiated $800M in change orders between the two projects.Pipe Bridge Managed team of 10 people during the detailed design of a new pipe bridge spanning 160’ over a creek. Design challenge was to assemble the bridge off site in 50+ foot long assemblies, assemble them on-site and lift the completely assembled bridge with piping and conduit and set on columns. Whole lift process took only 2 days, including crane setup and tear down.New Waste Water Storage Project Managed team of 5 people during the detailed design of a new 5,000,000 gallon waste water storage tank, associated 24” lines, MOV’s, Switch Rack and two new grit chambers.

Responsible for project managers adherence to company policies and procedures as well as maintaining good client relations. Work with other department managers to develop yearly office budgets, strategic goals and business development plans.

Responsible for updating/enforcing corporate project controls policies and procedures across multiple offices within the organization. Managed team of 10 project control staff, initiated staff training, worked to stream line processes to make them more efficient and beneficial to both the company and our clients. Developed project tracking tool that calculated earned value, provided real time actual information and forecasted values that incorporated both standard reports and graphs to clearly show project managers how their projects are trending. Developed manpower forecasting system to aid each office determine manpower staffing needs and allowed department heads and project managers the opportunity to discuss current manpower requirements and forecast weeks and months into the future. Also worked with the Business Development group to fine tune our estimating tool used to calculate pricing for projects.

Responsible for project engineering support on three ethanol blending projects. Projects ranged from converting an existing diesel tank to ethanol storage to designing a new 6,000 barrel tank. All projects required additional piping, electrical and instrumentation to complete the ethanol ratio blending asked for by the client. Current design will minimize maintenance down time, and utilize state of the art, easy to use controls for the drivers.

Developed engineering budget estimates, man-hour and cost reports using Prism and Excel. Utilized Primavera scheduling software to develop Level 3 and 4 project schedules. Responsible for maintaining schedules and determining project progress and profitability. Handled all client and sub-contractor change orders. Responsible for maintaining client cost reports and schedules.

Responsible for overseeing design team of three people as they designed custom access control, video security, professional audio/video systems, video conferencing systems and Crestron control systems for commercial applications. Also established excel templates to aid in the system design process. In addition to system design, developed low voltage system specifications for local architects to use in building designs and bid packages.

Project engineerResponsible for checking pipe specifications, P&ID’s, meeting with clients to discuss project requirements and pursued required utility surveys to determine location of existing utilities, and provided proposed utility routing for proposed railroad, high voltage electrical lines, and pipelines.Also responsible for developing and executing deployment strategy for Intergraph’s Smartplant 3D 2007 and Smartplant P&ID 2007 software. Maintained administration support of Smartplant software which included maintaining software databases, managing software updates and daily maintenance to include user access rights, daily backups, and troubleshooting.Project Controls Developed engineering budget estimates, man-hour and cost reports, and project schedules. Mechanical/Electrical Design EngineerHeld key responsibilities in drafting and design of mechanical and electrical systems for commercial buildings. Assisted in the selection of HVAC equipment such as boilers, fluid coolers, pumps, heat pumps, and air conditioning equipment to be used on various projects. Aided in the preparation and review of submittals

Utilized computer software and analytical analysis to determine the wind loads on residential and commercial structures. Served as project engineer and primary drafter on several commercial building projects where considerable amounts of creativity and initiative were required. Assisted clients in obtaining building permits.
