From the UK to Australia, and engineering to tech, my journey has been interesting, to say the least!Born and raised in Coventry (go Sky Blues!), when I left school I followed in my dad’s footsteps and went into engineering. After eight years working for a can-making company I headed to Australia where I became a heavy diesel mechanic at the Cadia Valley gold mine. A change of scene found me selling car maintenance services door-to-door where I discovered I was so good at sales that I began breaking company records. But I’m also challenge-driven and new opportunities beckoned. I began working in recruitment where I discovered that reference checking was a particular pain point.A boss from my first sales job – Neil Rose, who’s a fellow engineer – also knew it was a nightmare especially for small businesses so we set about solving the problem.We spent time developing an easy to use platform for recruiters and launched Referoo in 2017.Our unique platform allows users to send references online or simply take the reference over the phone.
