Key Expert on Security Sector Reform for the European Delegation in The Gambia. This is a senior leadership position whereby I provide advice to members of the National Assembly, Presidency, Cabinet, National Security Council, Heads of the Security Agencies, Foreign Ambassadors and Diplomats, Heads of International Agencies, as well as Civil and Private Sector leaders. Helping reform the Gambian security sector following a 22 year dictatorship. Building operational effectiveness and democratic governance. I lead a multi-agency team (The Critical Mass) of senior government officials and international consultants charged to develop new law, strategies, policies, procedures and practices. Together we are implementing Project Trust. Our portfolio includes designing and operationalising the countries first national security vetting agency and counter terrorism strategy. On behalf of an EU funded project, provided advice to the Presidency of The Gambia on the establishment of a Security Vetting Agency.

Founded the Cambridge Wildlife Crime Group (CWCG) . The group is hosted by a conservation agency based at the David Attenborough Building, housed with the Cambridge Conservation Initiative. The CWCG is a platform for academics, law enforcement, intelligence and conservationists to present, discuss, debate, raise ideas and search for innovative solutions to wildlife trafficking.

Advisor to HMG on measures to be taken in response to The Butler Review. Developed and implemented solution across multiple government departments.

Revised and advised on the UK's strategy and tactics for tackling maritime crime.

Directed the stand up and running of a Maritime Security Forum (a vision of my own creation) comprised of senior staff from across all NATO division. Our area of responsibility focused on the Mediterranean basin in support of the Article 5 counter terrorist operation Active Endeavor. Chaired a maritime security think-tank with representatives of various coast-guards, law enforcement, international agencies and academic institutions. Advised Joint Force Command on intelligence reform and training.

Designed and led a £4million+ programme charged with the responsibility of vetting candidates into the new Kosovo security force and intelligence agency.

A part of a three person team charged to advise the Command Group of Joint Force Command Naples on the impact of organised crime, extremism and terrorism on security, especially in the context of military operations, with a geographical focus on Iraq, the Balkans and countries boarding the Mediterranean basin. Led projects to develop strategy, policy and operational relationships between military and civil actors; especially in the area of intelligence and special operations.

From buckets and bags to bins, I washed cars, delivered newspapers, cleaned fish-tanks, swept floors, sold pond pumps, dug holes, gathered chairs at Wimbledon, painted fences at Silverstone, and chased rubbish trucks in Basildon all to avoid homework, exams and the threat of university. The big decision ahead of me was 'military' or 'police'. I decided on both.
