Over the past 18+ years, I have built a solid reputation as the go-to Drilling Engineer for helping top upstream oil and gas companies safely and successfully manage up to 19 rigs at one time and execute 850+ wells in 19 states.Launching my career as an MWD/LWD Field Engineer with Weatherford, I have since been recruited to Staff Drilling Engineer, Senior Drilling & Completions Engineer, Drilling Services Manager, and Directional Drilling Coordinator roles by Apache (7 yrs), ETX Energy (3 yrs), Schlumberger (4 yrs), and Weatherford (3 yrs).In 2020, I launched JGL Consulting, an Operations Engineering & Industrial Health consulting firm providing COVID-19 services to operators’ field sites. In my role as Principal Drilling Engineer, I have led 1-7 seasoned operations crews of up to 24 staff across the NM Delaware Basin, Oklahoma, and Texas for 7+ operator / clients. From 2017 to 2020, I occupied two simultaneous roles at Apache overseeing different reporting structures, goals, risk profiles, and goals for two Delaware Basin Teams (Reeves County, TX) while managing all domestic exploration projects (i.e., construction, drilling, completions, and flowback). I was retained through 5 major layoffs and released due to corporate restructuring. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, IADC Well Control Certification for Drilling, Workover & Well Servicing, FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Level 100 & 200 Training, and extensive Schlumberger Directional Drilling and Drilling Engineering training. Some of my career impacts include:► Allowing Apache to remain economic despite industry downturns, saving $2.75M/well, and reducing cost 42% by cutting Granite Wash drill time from 75 to 37 days for a 13,000’ TVD & 30,000 psi UCS play. ► Leading Geology, Drilling, Completion, and Production teams into 7 basins as Apache’s Delaware Basin Team Lead / Exploration Project Manager while stewarding $150M to $400M annual budgets, saving $10M in project costs, adding $6M of NPV over 4 months, and preventing 90% of interventions.► Achieving a World Record 598 drilling hours on a 4-3/4” drilling turbine and MWD, rebuilding Schlumberger's Northeastern US district from 1 air job to 19 horizontal rigs, and drilling Apache’s first 3-mile laterals in Southern Midland Basin while ensuring a zero-harm drilling operations safety culture.
