Responsible for the operations and maintenance of the stormwater system for The City of Calgary to ensure citizen safety and the protection of the environment from impacts of stormwater runoff. This position is tasked with setting strategic direction for the existing and future drainage system and managing day-to-day operations to protect the public and the environment from negative effects of storm water runoff.

As a strategic partner to the Director of Environmental & Safety Management (ESM) this position broadly focuses on supporting the business in achieving Council priorities and associated corporate goals, and developing and executing the ESM business plan. Primary responsibilities include:- Coordinate and monitor the implementation of ESM's business plan and associated budget- Build and maintain communication links and business collaboration opportunities within and across City of Calgary business units, departments and members of Council- Manage reporting process to Council, Standing Policy Committees, and the Administrative Leadership Team- Facilitate issues management within ESM and on behalf of The City for Environmental and Safety issues- Participate in project work as required

This role looks at ensuring the business is able to produce and deliver clean, safe drinking water and collect and treat storm and sanitary effluent despite the many natural and human-caused disruptions experienced.- Work with internal stakeholders to refine business processes to reduce vulnerability and build resilience to business disruptions- Facilitate the alignment of plans and processes between external stakeholders and business partners - Organize and manage the business's response to emergencies when they occur via the business and municipal emergency operations centres (EOC) - Facilitate the development of new processes and protocols through projects that work to integrate aspects of the business in ways that encourage efficiency and effectiveness using a holistic, business-wide approach

Specializing in emergency management for municipalities, private industry, health authorities and post-secondary institutions - Collaborate on numerous projects including emergency plans; hazard and risk assessments and analysis; ICS and EOC training workshops and exercise development and conduct- Assist in the design, development, delivery, and facilitation of functional exercises and tabletops for field response, EOCs and corporate crisis management teams- Conduct research and information analysis pertaining to best practices, evolving technologies and techniques in emergency management

Emergency response planning, preparedness and management - Supervised day to day activities of a 20-person sustained response crew- Performed multiple funtions within ICS- Managed large geographical areas and varied resources in responding to multiple incidentsProject management of non-fire related projects (volunteer, risk reduction, community development)- Instructor for New Recruit Boot Camp, Crew Leader and Incident Command courses- Liaised and coordinated with a multitude of internal resources and external agencies
