Director Of Communications
CurrentI am working to make it easier for the people of Georgia to learn about the great work being done by the Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network to improve behavioral health services throughout the state, while also advocating for better access to recovery-oriented, person-centered mental health services. The dozens of programs and initiatives of GMHCN, which were previously promoted as independent units, are being systematically brought into a unified visual style and vernacular. I am responsible for conceptualizing, producing, and distributing all media (digital, print, social, marketing, events, and promotional products). I get to be involved in multiple initiatives of GMHCN, including the Fulton County Justice and Mental Health Task Force, the Georgia Mental Health Policy Partnership, the Georgia Behavioral Health Services Coalition, and the Fulton County Diversion Center. I help to write federal and private grants, and I represent the behavioral health community at functions across the state. I am also a part of the the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration's Southeast Mental Health Technology Transfer Center through Emory University, and travel across eight states (or Zoom to them) in the southeast providing technical assistance to other states seeking to improve mental health supports and resources. With six facilities throughout the state and nearly 100 employees, GMHCN is one of the largest peer-led organizations in the country. It's an extraordinary place to work, and extraordinarily good work to do.• Develop and implement strategy for enlarging and engaging GMHCN membership;• Work with other nonprofit and state organizations to advance behavioral health services for all Georgians;• Develop and facilitate presentations and trainings to advance behavioral health services;• Serve as liaison with counsel, allied organizations, and government agencies;• Lead advocacy efforts across the state, developing message and media.
