Chris Jones is one of the best connected and most experienced real estate specialists in the data centre sector, with an unmatched land and facility transaction track record in Europe over the last 30 years. Starting in the mid-1980’s acquiring sites for US telecommunications companies expanding in EMEA and negotiating the first colocation deal in Europe in 1988. In the early 1990 telco boom he launched a specialist transaction management service for international data centres and in 2000 started the first European team for data centres at the UK’s largest national real estate adviser, GVA. For 20 years Chris and his team were the major player in the facility and land transaction market, helping start several market-leading brands for data centre development and being their channel to market. Chris joined Cushman & Wakefield in 2020 as Head of Data Centre Transactions & Solutions for EMEA, bringing his extensive contacts and relationships as well as insight garnered from over 30 years being a leader in a constantly evolving market. In his time at C&W the land transactions team has established itself as the EMEA market leader having completed or currently delivering exclusive acquisition mandates for approximately 100 site acquisitions of between 25 and 500 MW on behalf of the main hyperscalers.Chris recently marketed and negotiated the largest ever hyperscale facility transaction ever done in Europe.
