Lead for all perimeter operations teams globally (US, UK, Poland and Malaysia). This was a critical service requiring the highest availability and performance, supporting all business transactions or processes involving 3rd-party or Internet-based services for GSK’s outsourced providers. Perimeter points of presence were available across 35 sites globally from China to Brazil, supporting over 650 3rd-party connections. Successfully led service with significant growth and demand, as well as selection and deployment of new global SSL VPN service, significantly improving access and security for GSK and their partners worldwide.

Running an IT unit of for clinical trials in cardiovascular disease. I co-ordinated all computing systems and services within CVSU for over 200 staff situated in over 35 geographical locations within the UK and Ireland. My principal responsibility was for our clinical trials systems and associated computer networks and servers.

Co-ordination of the Unlinked Anonymous HIV Seroprevalence Survey of Genito-urinary Medicine (GUM) Clinic Attendees in England & Wales (GUMANON). Leading divisional IT development instituting the divisional local area network within CDSC which linked to the Public Health Laboratory Service national network. GUMANON involved 16 clinics and associated laboratories collecting in excess of 75,000 specimens a year, with a budget of approximately £400,000 and a staff of 50.
