Chris K. Thomas is a San Francisco-based film and media maker collaborating with his partner, Dan Damman.We were recently awarded an Artist in Residency and a Kenneth Rainin Foundation Producer’s grant at the San Francisco Film Society (now SFFILM) for our feature film development company, THE YOGI TRADEMARK.Our short film, AWAREWOLF, won Best Comedic Short at the Maui Film Festival and was a Finalist at the USA Film Festival. Our musical, MISSION BABY, played to a sell-out crowd at the 2020 San Francisco Sketchfest. We co-founded a commercial production house, Potluck Productions, in 2004 where we produce videos, films, and live streaming events. Our long-term clients include Levi Strauss, Old Navy, Nokia, and many others.My background in environmental causes, economic development, and grassroots politics motivated us to create and lead several effective regional and national campaigns including;"Do More than Vote,” “Video the Vote,” "The People Choose.” These campaign ads ran on cable, Link TV, and digital distribution. Before moving into media, I was a teacher in LA, a climate change researcher at MIT, an environmentalist in Mongolia, and a job training/environmental justice nonprofit Director in Oakland. Dan and I are focused on storytelling because we believe that we need a cultural change. I play upright bass in the band "Cancel Your Memberships,” write a song every year for a different member of my family, and manage my six-year-old son's bilingual soccer team while my fabulous wife coaches.
