After graduating in December, 2017, I began working as a tax staff in a local CPA firm. In this role I prepared all major forms of tax returns including 1120, 1120s, 1065, 990, and 990-PF. Preparation of forms included creating reportable financial statements, conferencing directly with clients to verify that all information was received and accurate, and traveling to clients to go over their tax returns in person. I received this position after completing an internship at the same firm from May, 2017 to August, 2017. While still in school, in 2015, I received a management position from a small retail company based in Phoenix. In this role, I undertook all responsibilities for opening and running a store. This included hiring employees and managing employees, utilizing marketing techniques to build a customer base, and analyzing sales data to create forecasts of future revenue. Prior to deciding on my accounting career path, I worked in the Town of Paradise Valley as an IT Intern. In this position, I was the main technical support staff for all employees that worked in town hall and the adjoining buildings. When I wasn't providing technical support, I would undertake projects to improve the town's technical infrastructure. My largest project of this nature was deploying a network of tablets to be put into police vehicles. This included selecting software packages for the tablets, designing a security network to mesh between the police station and all vehicles, and training officer's in the use of the tablets and designation of profiles.
