Following a management restructure the position of Operations Manager within the company was made redundant. Five new positions were created of which I was offered the position as Southern Area Operations Manager. Duties include working with the three branch managers in the area to provide holiday and sickness cover for the region. Quarterly audits to be completed for each site with corrective actions to be agreed and implemented with the branch manager. Assist branch managers in maintaining and improving KPI performance for cost areas and customer/delivery performance.Operations Manager (Southampton) July 2002 to Sept 2006 • P&L Budget responsibility for £3 million• Packing and delivering national newspapers and magazines 7 days a week in a monopolised distribution area to 550 retail customers within agreed RDT times • The daily management of 3 department managers with 12 FLM`s, 60 drivers and 40 warehouse operatives and a transport fleet of 17 vehicles and a contractor fleet of 26 vans .• The setting and monitoring of KPI targets for each shift to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained and exceeded whilst working within the department budget. • Responsible for maintaining and monitoring the existing functions such as Human Resources and the Health and Safety team, including risk assessments.• The operation is 24 / 7, packing on average 500k magazines a week and 250k national news titles everyday with 41 delivery runs.

• The control of the Night shift operation of a 170,000 sq. foot bonded warehouse holding 15,000 Plts and a stock value of £100 million despatching up to 80,000 case per day on 300 orders using the Opus warehouse management system.• Management of one FLM and 27 Operatives, Stock Control and Transport Operation of five vehicles supported by Subcontract haulage• Planning the loading and unloading of upto 60 vehicles per hour at peak and preparation of drivers manifests.
