I am a hydrogeologist with more than 40 years experience. My career has been varied, involving exposure to a wide range of projects, which has informed original approaches to problem solving. Tasks are addressed pragmatically, rather than responding solely to instructions from a client or the adoption of overly complex technical methods, when they may not be required. I started my career in the petroleum industry before studying for my MSc in hydrogeology at Birmingham University. After working for several consultancies, both in the UK and internationally, I founded Hafren Water in 1997. The company has grown, together with the scope of work, and now encompasses both surface water and groundwater-based project work. Our remit is wide and includes Environmental Impact Assessments, waterwell installation, water use auditing, Flood Risk Assessments, environmental monitoring, UK agriculture, landfill assessments, significant involvement in the UK mineral extraction industry and wetland habitat assessment and creation. International professional experience derives from work in south east Asia, Nigeria and Pakistan and Africa. Projects have included preparing and running training courses, groundwater resource assessment, borehole siting and technical reviews of water supply projects.
