I served as a patrol officer, Red Dog Officer and as a member of the SWAT Team/Bomb Squad from 1990-2001, In 2002 -2007 I was the Bomb Squad Commander for the Police Department. From 2008 - 2010 I was the SWAT Commander. In 2010 I was appointed to the rank of Major and commanded the Special Enforcement Section. In 2011 until my retirement I was the Downtown Precinct Commander.

I served for six years at 2nd ANGLICO an airborne company that supported U.S. Army airborne units as well as NATO units. I was jump qualified, jumpmaster qualified and in 1983 graduated from the Army Ranger School class 9-83. I was the Anglico Detachment NCOIC in Beirut, Lebanon during the bombing of the Marine Barracks. I served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm as member of 4th LAAD. My final rank was Gunnery Sergeant.
