I am a passionate and innovative food educator with over 20 years of experience in teaching, curriculum development, and leadership. My career has taken me from the classrooms of the UK to international schools in Asia, where I’ve inspired thousands of students through food education and well-being initiatives. Alongside my teaching journey, I founded Lordy’s Thrive Kitchen, a social enterprise that empowers communities through cooking classes, supper clubs, and culinary consultancy. In 2002, my life changed when I was diagnosed with Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy, leaving me with limited vision. While this presented challenges, I embraced it as an opportunity to demonstrate resilience and positivity. I’m proud to say that my determination to excel in both my personal and professional life has often been described as inspirational. From receiving a graduation prize for overcoming adversity to being featured on Teachers TV as an exemplary disabled teacher, I’ve shown that obstacles can be transformed into strengths.💡 Career Highlights:Co-authored the International Baccalaureate Food Science and Technology specification, now taught in schools worldwide.Founded Lordy’s Thrive Kitchen (2024), offering innovative programs focused on food education and sustainability.Recognized as one of Sheffield’s Best Teachers (2010) and celebrated for personal and academic achievements during my degree.Designed and led international food and culture trips, immersing students in culinary traditions across Asia.🔑 Key Skills:Curriculum development, including innovative and globally recognized programs.Leadership in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, informed by my lived experience as a visually impaired professional.Risk assessment and logistical planning for educational events and trips.Collaborative leadership, mentoring teachers, and leading professional development programs.Expertise in food education, from teaching to consultancy and program design.Above all, I am passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. Whether inspiring students, mentoring teachers, or creating opportunities for communities through food, I am committed to leaving a positive impact.💬 Let’s connect to discuss food education, inclusive leadership, or exciting new opportunities!
