ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES• perform all type of splices in both fiber/copper cabling within core and residential networks ( MS², fusion, mechanical, scotchloks, etc.)• Use Optical/Copper Test Equipment to localize line trouble, and record test results for new and existing core, enterprise, and residential networks (EXFO, JDSU, 3M 965, AEMC Ground Tester, etc.)• Perform fiber characterization testing for line side qualification and troubleshooting in core networks (chromatic dispersion, polarization mode dispersion, OLTS, OTDR, etc.)• Read and interpret engineering schematics and design layouts• Install fiber/copper splice closure in underground, buried, and aerial applications ( TE Connectivity, PLP, 3M, Corning, etc.)• Installation of rack and wall mounted Fiber Termination Panels for building entrance and distribution applications (Clearfield, Panduit, OFS, Corning, etc)• Terminating fiber optic and copper cables (wire wrap, punch down, hot melts, etc)• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment/cabling related to copper networks transporting T1’s, ISDN, VDSL, ADSL, 56K, Voice, etc.• Follow guidelines of all grounding procedures related to scope of work performed• Perform/collaborate on tests to insure proper operation of network equipment before and after installations and/or repairs• Collaborate on the general practices and guidelines for fiber/copper cabling during new construction and repairs• Perform installation in such ways to insure neatness and concealment of wires and cable where possible• Complete all required reports when job is completed to ensure the accuracy of plant records• Observe and practice all safety rules• Use a computer to perform job related duties in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and company related software applications
