With more than 20 years of experience in commercial insurance, Chris Martz sees parallels between his current career and his days as a former golf pro. In both lines of work, it’s essential to be goal-oriented and passionate. His passion for supporting his clients stems from who he is as a person. “Yes, I’m a numbers guy, but more than that I’m a relationship-driven person who is in it for the long haul. My goal is to be a resource for any business needs my clients have, even if that goes beyond insurance.”During his tenure at Alcott Insurance Agency, Chris specialized in designing business liability coverage for clients in the restaurant, hospitality and brewery industry. Noticing that many such businesses had wide exposure to pitfalls like wage disputes, theft and workplace harassment lawsuits, Chris has focused on educating his clients on the benefits of loss control and employment practice liability insurance (EPLI). While maintaining his relationships in that industry, Chris also advises clients in industries including moving and storage, machining and fabrication. To achieve the best results for his accounts, Chris stresses the importance of performing due diligence, and thinking outside the box in unique situations. Case in point: after a software client suffered a sizable data breach, he designed a program that would combine their professional liability and cyber liability plans for a 30 percent reduction in premiums, all while expanding coverage, without sacrificing any limits.Prior to his time at Alcott Insurance, Chris also invested six years as a broker at Driver Alliant Insurance Service, was a golf teaching professional and spent several years in durable medical equipment sales as a territory manager. Chris earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from San Diego State University.Chris is married with two daughters, and his family enjoys outdoor activities including team sports, hiking and golf.
