I am currently working as a Fire Engineer at EX32, which is a Fire Engineering Consultancy Company who provide a range of services to clients across the UK. I work on a variety of projects from Fire Risk Assessments, Compartmentation Surveys and Fire Strategy.• Fire Strategy – identify passive and active fire safety elements (such as fire extinguishers, fire doors and fire sprinklers) within a building. Make comments against the building referring to the building regulations and use mechanical drawings to identify if the travel distances for escape comply with the regulations. • Compartmentation Surveys – Undertake surveys across sites to identify concerns that affects the integrity of the building against a fire • Remedials – Attend sites to rectify any concerns that were found during the survey (such as fire stopping or minor door repairs) • Fire Risk Assessments – Professionally and accurately undertake fire risk assessments to identify ways to remove/reduce the risks of hazards in a building. Outline safety measures that could be introduced to ensure the safety of everyone in the building (i.e., warning signs and fire detection). Produce KTM (Key Task Manager) for the client so they can effectively manage any improvements that need to be made• Fire Damper Surveys & Testing – Undertake surveys to locate and assess the condition of the fire dampers across the site. Produce a report to illustrate the findings, noting down any defects. If necessary, re-attend the site to test and remediate any defects • Quality Control – Attend sites to plan the route for a fire main installation system. Record all the data from welds, make visual inspections and assess the quality of each weld. Create a drawing using CAD to update the project manager on the status of the project • Hydrant Flow Testing – Preform flow tests on Fire Hydrants across the site to record data and assess the condition. Analyse findings and create reports for the client

Fire Maintenance Service (FMS) is based on site at Nissan Motor Manufacturing and is the key contract for the maintenance of fire systems. Responsibilities: • Weekly bell tests for the sprinkler systems • Weekly tests of the emergency showers • Organising and planning of weekend works • Support engineers with other maintenance that is being undertaken. Key Skills: • Problem Solving: Quickly finding solutions to compete tasks • Time Management: Ensure weekly tests are undertaken in a timely manner • Planning & Organisation: Ensure weekend work is planned and organised effectively • Attention to Detail: Ensure faults on systems are identified and fixed • Communication: Communicate effectively with Nissan Engineers to ensure jobs are undertaken at convenient times • Teamwork: Work effectively with FMS to ensure jobs are completed safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities: • Health and safety audits: Safety Evaluation System & Fire Prevention Evaluation System (SES & FPES), EC Paint Shop Buyoffs, Means of Escape, Extinguisher and Safety Signage Audits• Managing the on-site fire systems: Experience dealing with a range of systems such as sprinklers, fire alarm and smoke vents which cover a variety of disciplines (construction, mechanical and electrical engineering) • Capital projects: Plan, organise and implement projects, create design specifications, evaluate business tenders and produce Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS)• Fire safety advice: Use my knowledge of fire safety, gained from working alongside a fire engineer, to give accurate information Key Achievements: • Business Relationships: Communicate effectively and work cross-functionally with different departments and companies• Project management: Replaced two sprinkler manifolds, created a design specification for a new sprinkler tank and pump house and undertook an in-depth survey of sprinkler valves and smoke vent compressors• Data analysis: Created a monthly maintenance tracker for Fire Maintenance Service (FMS) • Contract management: Work alongside FMS to continually develop and improve the fire systems • CAD: Created a scaled map of the whole site, which has benefited both Nissan and FMS• Training Courses: Safety for Engineers, Legionella, Working at Height, Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP), Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS), SES&FPES and Planning
