I am a qualified, registered teacher with masters degree recently completely centred on online technologies I also hold an honours degree in maths and science and more than 25 years experience in electronics and I.T. I work extensively in Further and Higher Education in Northern Ireland although I recently completed a 2 year teaching contract in Abu Dhabi primarily in maths and IT teaching I currently own a small enterprise providing IT solutions to businesses in Northern Ireland.Research projects:Current project: Maths through SportsThis project involves working with primary schools in the North West, to deliver a fun and innovative programme to Key Stage 2, with emphasis primarily on teaching applied mathematics. The project sets challenges so that the children learn through doing.March-May 1994: Manager and Administrator of North Eastern Education and Library Board Language Acquisition Project. Project linked three schools in France and three schools in Ireland using videoconferencing. The project aimed to explore the use of videoconferencing as a tool to support language acquisition in schoolchildren. My responsibilities included: negotiating the funding with the NEELB; the planning and design of the project; the design of the technical components; the diesng of the protocol; advising on the itinerary of events and delivering the technical support for the project. It was attended by the French attache and was very successful; the NEELB continued independent negotiations afterwards to extend the project.HABITS project (History Aware Based Indoor Tracking System) working with the School of Computing and Intelligent Systems: my role was the technical support of the research project which explored the use of wireless technologies in location positioning. .Specialties: Developing innovative teaching packages using a range of educational technologies to enhance understanding and enthusiasm for Maths and IT, for children and adults.
