About Chris Mccarthy

Currently working as the Lead Commentator for F1 on the F1 Kids Broadcasts and the FIA Formula 3 & Porsche Supercup Championships as well as making selected appearances on FIA Formula 2.I am also the 'English Voice' of the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2022 and the Series Commentator for the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine. My journey with commentary began after I suffered an epileptic seizure whilst at a race track in 2012 which brought an immediate end to my dreams of becoming a racing driver, but started a new journey and dream to become a Formula One Commentator. My newly found passion for TV and Film at the time led me to take advantage of having free access to TV Cameras and Edit Suites at Stanmore College to go and film the Whilton Mill Kart Club championship I once raced in and setup WMKCTV. I soon found myself commentating over these races to improve the quality of the videos and it was at that point my passion for commentary began. My journey with live commentary started on British Karting in 2014, before graduating to Esports in 2018 and Single Seaters in 2019 and it was from that point my push to make it to the F1 Support Series categories really began.Although my struggles with epilepsy still exist today they are what led me to what I now call a dream job. I am very grateful to say I have commentated on everything from F1, F2, F3, FRECA, F4, Porsche Supercup, 24 Hours of Le Mans and World Karting all in 2023!Next year I will reach my 10th season in this role and I am very excited to see where it takes me.I also have a passion for Winter Sports and Football and I hope to use my experience to work in these areas in the coming years.

Listed skills include Film Production, Short Films, Film, Television, and 5 others.
