Managed a tractor trailer fleet shop, overseeing 10 mechanics and 1 assistant operating on two shifts in a non-union environment. Responsible for the maintenance of approximately 30 dedicated trucks as well as any trailers that entered the yard. Also arranged repairs for customer and owner operator equipment - reviewed customer work orders and invoiced customers.Type of equipment included tandem, tridem and quad axle van trailers from a variety of manufacturers such as Stoughton, Wabash, Utility, Manac, Thermo King reefers and heaters, Volvo bunk tractors equipped with Tripac auxiliary power units, Qualcomm satellite systems and Espar bunk heaters as well as International bunk and day cab tractors equipped with route trackers.Independently performed all shop inventory functions. Determined parts minimum and maximum stocking levels, negotiated pricing with vendors, replenished stock as required, performed inventory cycle and yearly counts and filed warranty claims as necessary. Overhauled stock room by eliminating stale stock, completely cleaning out and reorganizing shelves and adding fast moving parts.Additional responsibilities included compiling a variety of maintenance reports and reporting directly to the Fleet Maintenance Manager, acting as moderator in daily maintenance conference call, arranging for training for mechanics, handling road calls for drivers broke down, processing invoices for parts purchases and outside vendor maintenance and authorizing mechanics hours and attendance for payroll.
