As Copyright and Licensing Specialist I am responsible for providing a central point of expertise, advice and guidance on matters relating to copyright and intellectual property rights (IPR) to Bodleian staff and the wider University. In this role I do the following:- provide strategic advice to senior Bodleian staff on the approaches to take regarding copyright and licensing.- work closely with Library staff involved in supporting teaching and research and curating of special collections, providing expert advice and guidance on copyright in these areas. - advise on appropriate licensing for Bodleian produced content, digitised materials and third party subscribed or purchased content.- provide hands on training and advice for staff across the Bodleian working in the areas of Copyright and Licensing. - play a key role as the University’s co-ordinator for the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) Licence and the Newspaper Licensing Agency (NLA). - act as a central source of copyright support for students, for teaching and for research. This includes helping authors to gain an understanding of copyright and licensing issues involved in publishing their work.The role is based in the Open Scholarship Support department, workingalongside experts in a number of other complementary areas (digital preservation, research data management, open access and digital innovation) to provide a joined-up expert service to Bodleian and University staff and academics.
