Stand alone role responsible for set-up of HR function within a small Recruitment Agency (10 staff) and it's sister firm an engineering design company (240 staff) in a stand alone position with responsibility for NW Head Office and 3 UK-wide sites (NE, Cumbria & SW) with regular on-site visits in order to deal with ER matters. Focal point for all recruitment practices as on-site managed staffing service (dealing with recruitment agents & heads of departments). Provided assistance to project managers involved in bid/tendering process for new work specifically in relation to manpower availability and search and selection issues. Implemented new pay review system, updated HR elements of QA system as well as updating/ improving training and associated databases. Completed full review of company HR policy. Progressed to holding a position on the senior management committee and undertook management training. Used awareness of employment law issues to adapt and upgrade policies in response to changes in legislation and undertook re-write of Employee Handbook. Started working towards IIP status prior to departure, became ethics officer for UK which encompassed equality and diversity issues in line with parent US Company policy and directly responsible to VP HR in the US.

During almost 25 years service in the Royal Air Force I worked across a diverse range of specialisations within the Personnel field which included recruitment, drafting (movement of military personnel worldwide), accountancy and payroll. I have worked on two flying squadrons, most notably No 617 (The Dambusters)Squadron, acted as the Personal Assistant to the Officer Commanding a front line air base and as part of the Defence section in the British Embassy, Paris, where I was responsible for arranging Diplomatic Clearances for military aircraft, vehicles and personnel transiting mainland France and its overseas territories. As well as serving in Paris I have served in Gemany on two occasions and twice undertaken out of area operations in the Gulf region. I am a qualified linguist (French).
