As the Senior Training and Development Manager I provide strategic direction, management and performance for the Training and Development Function. I attend operational incidents/exercises and Gold learning events as a strategic manager. I maintain competence as Senior Fire Investigations Officer and Hazardous Materials and Environmental Protection Officer (HMEPO) and identify opportunities for continuous personal and professional development for myself and others.I am a member of the Senior Management Team and maintain effective working relationships with Principal Officers and other Senior Managers to maintain service delivery and implement business continuity management systems.I collaborate with Principal Officers and Managers from other Fire and Rescue Services, partner organisations and training providers.I promote and manage a strong health and safety culture and champion commitment to equality and fairness within the Training and Development Function and the Organisation.

Lead, manage, monitor and review the delivery of training for NWFRS. Responsibility for the running of the Service Training Centre, budget, operational recruitment, career development and progression for all Service employees.Overall responsibility and lead for the research, development and management of all development programmes for individuals and teams.Attend operational incidents/exercises as Incident Commander and Tactical Advisor. Provide specialist advice as Hazardous Materials and Environmental Protection Officer (HMEPO) and Senior Fire Investigation Officer.

Management and command of Wrexham and Flintshire areas.Provide support and direction to Fire Stations and Fire Safety teams in that Area within the following areas of reference:- Community Fire Safety - Technical and legislative Fire Safety, including the preparation of prosecution case files - Fire investigation supervision and reporting- General Management (eg financial management, audit [within areas of reference], organisational communications, staff development, etc)- Responsible for overall co-ordination of Improvement Plans.• Develop and co-ordinate links with Local Authorities and other external bodies and partners within the Area to assist in the achievement of Community Fire Safety and wider Community Safety / Community Cohesion initiatives, providing appropriate representation on behalf of NWFRS, in particular, at Local Service Boards.• Participate in Service-wide committees, Task Groups and project work.• Attend operational incidents/exercises as Incident commander and Tactical Advisor. Provide specialist advice as Hazardous Materials and Environmental Protection Officer (HMEPO) and Senior Fire Investigation Officer.• Represent the Head of Community Safety as appropriate.

Management responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of all operational activities via fire stations across the Wrexham and Flintshire area, including specific management of operational performance, personnel development and resource management.Attend operational incidents/exercises as Incident commander and Operational Advisor. Provide specialist advice as Hazardous Materials and Environmental Protection Officer (HMEPO) and Senior Fire Investigation Officer.
