As a Systems Engineer Specialist I was brought in by the Sales Account teams to establish a high level of technical understanding of the customer’s environment and help solve solutions around their IT needs. I interacted and presented to both technical systems administrators as well as CIO’s, Directors at any level. Projects budgets that I have worked on range from thousands to millions of dollars. I have worked with state and local governments, healthcare, universities, DOD and other federal agencies. It was important to establish a relationship as a trusted advisor while presenting Symantec solutions. To accomplish this much of my time was spent staying up to date on industry trends as well as new features of the Symantec Information Management products and how they are used to solve Data Center needs. I worked closely with account teams and partners to assist in presentations, demos, proof of concepts and training. Additionally I contributed to the specialist teams mind share by providing technical experiences and feedback from the field. I was part of the NetBackup Virtual Team which acted as a liaison between the Account Teams, product management and marketing. I attended a few competitive challenges where we would install, test and compare the Symantec products against our competitors. The result was a competitive battlecard or playbook that we would then present over WebEx to the entire technical sales organization within Symantec. In addition I was invited to the annual product Interlocks and Rotations to learn about the direction and capabilities of the products and give feedback. This position required a significant amount of travel and time management.

Worked alongside with the Army sales team and Systems Engineers to provide technical knowledge to the team and the customer. Provided design plans to the customer and support from beginning phases of system implementation through final phase of system operations. Continuously worked with the customer to provide upgrade and product enhancements as they became available while maintaining an open and trusted relationship. The position required significant technical knowledge, customer interaction and travel. Accomplishments During the three years that I worked with the Army team we were very successful based on the total download of licenses and the level of trust that we established with the various Army sites. Personally designed and implemented over 30 installations of NetBackup, Storage Foundation HA and other products supported under the ELA that were both large scale and mission critical.
