Supporting James' mission to help men suffering from mental health conditions in the North-East by providing a range of offerings including routine services such as Space to Talk, Space to Think and Space to Walk.

Starting small. Teaching meditation and doing a weekly Vlog to share my lessons and breakthroughs on a battle with mental health. To show others there is hope and by simply replacing bad habits with good ones you can change the trajectory of your life.

I became a Yena host in my local city Sunderland so that I could create a community and safe space for entrepreneurs, creatives and visionary people to come, share stories and connect with like-minds to encourage entrepreneurship, personal development and provide an event in Sunderland that isn't currently available.Events are held around the city at key locations and fellow entrepreneurs are asked to speak about their stories with pitching, Q&As, open interaction and networking with the rest of the community.@yenasunderland

After spending 3 years as a full-time student studying Design Engineering at university, I was simultaneously working at Glasshus on the factory floor over the summer, Easter and Christmas periods, for educational purposes, to benefit my future role. Having transitioned into my full time position as an architectural draughtsman in the design office I broadened my skill set in the form of autoCAD and architectural/production design. Alongside developing and maintaining the company website, building a nationwide project portfolio and refreshing the companies marketing campaign and brand image using various online medias.

To build a comprehensive knowledge of this industry it was essential that I began working on the factory floor. During the time spent in manufacture, I developed a fluent knowledge of the production process, from raw material preparation - to implementing the finished system on site. Using various machines and tools taught me the importance of understanding the potential problems that can be avoided through a well considered drawings at the design stage.This rounded knowledge is to serve as the foundations to initially become an architectural draughtsman post graduation and then to study Structural Engineering at masters level, being internally responsible for the structural viability of the designs at Glasshus.

Design internship at Swifty Scooters design studio and workshop (Jamily Design Group). Placement was gained from winning a live design competition in partnership with Swifty, through university. I spent a month working on design projects and shadowing their team, in particular, their product designer Tom. Real world experience from a passionate and thriving company was developed - from the idea generation stage right through to manufacture and trade show selling. An incredible insight was gained as to how a young creative, start-up company operates and what drive it takes to enable a growing company to continually succeed.

At Homebase I was a shop floor assistant, working as part of the team that dealt with stock replenishment, standards and predominantly customer service. This has further advanced my communication skills within a team environment, and also with customers, as customer-contact is habitual. Given my age of 18/19 here, I was given a lot of responsibility, including closing and opening the store, training new employees, operating the paint mixer and using various in-store LIS equipment. This enabled me to grow and solidify a place in the team where my presence and commitment was valued.

I worked at the Stadium of Light on home match days and various functions in the catering and hospitality industry, initially under the name Lindley catering, which then changed to an in-house company named eighteen79. I was mainly based in the James Herriot suite, which is the most exclusive part of the hospitality section. Here, I developed my skills as a waiter which involved both food and bar service. I have a passion for work and love interacting with the customers that have paid a premium, hence providing them with an unbeatable service; relishing in various helpful and casual conversations.

It was at Tucci where I was introduced to the retail world as a Christmas Temp. Here I learned various skills including, stock replenishment, store rearrangement and also a much more sales driven approach to work. Our sales were monitored and rewarded weekly on specific product sales. I developed a method of building a rapport with customers making them comfortable and ensuring quality service even if the sale wasn’t made.
