As the Associate Director of Partnering & Innovation at the University of Nottingham, I play a pivotal role in driving digital transformation and strategic digital initiatives across our global campuses. With extensive experience in business partnering, digital/IT strategy execution and financial planning, I lead a high-performing team dedicated to bridging the gap between technology and the University's mission.My role involves collaborating with senior leadership to identify and implement digital solutions that enhance the University's operational efficiency and strategic goals. I am passionate about fostering innovation and continuously improving our services to meet the evolving needs of our academic and administrative communities. By managing the DTS demand process and developing strategic roadmaps, I ensure that our Digital Services not only supports but also propels the University towards its vision of becoming a digital leader in higher education. I am always looking forward to new opportunities to leverage emerging technologies for the benefit of our students, staff, and the broader university community.I played a key role in the University's response to the pandemic as part of the education planning team, for which we were honoured with the Vice-Chancellor's Medal in 2021. Additionally, I am the Digital Lead for the University's 5th Campus at Castle Meadow.

In my role, I was accountable for overseeing the global portfolio of IT projects and programs within the Academic domain, specifically focusing on Teaching & Learning and Research. I managed the end-to-end change pipeline, ensuring that projects were aligned with the organisation’s mission, strategy, and priorities. My responsibility included the successful delivery of these projects, maintaining high-quality standards within a coherent architecture and support framework.I led a dedicated team of IT Business Partners, Business Analysts, and Project Managers, driving the initiation and delivery of approved projects. By engaging with key stakeholders and collaborating closely with the Executive/Directorate leads in Teaching & Learning and Research, I ensured that our efforts were consistently aligned with the University’s goals. My work involved producing high-impact business cases that clearly articulated the University's aspirations and demonstrated our ability to deliver tangible business benefits. Additionally, I played a key role in driving the adoption of new technologies from providers like Microsoft and Box, which brought significant benefits to the University.I also worked directly with the Senior Management Team of Information Services to foster a value-driven, delivery-focused culture. I championed professional practices, such as capability-led planning and agile project delivery methodologies, which were essential to the success of our partnerships and programs. Under my leadership, I created an environment that encouraged creativity, innovation, and agility, enabling my team to effectively respond to new opportunities and the evolving IT landscape.

I improved the governance groups so that they now focus on ensuring their business and technology needs are directly aligned to delivering the University’s goals and priorities implementing best practices such as institutional wide strategic business cases, roadmaps and prioritisation. Through this I delivered over £30m of research bids and projects.I lead the development of the departments’ IT strategic plan outlining how we are going to deliver the strategic aims and objectives of the University’s Strategy and Priorities.As part of the Department’s Leadership team I contributed to the development plan which ensured our maturity levels were raised to meet the increased expectations of the University.

From August 2013 I worked with the CIO and Transformation Programme Manager in establishing a major organisational transformation programme encompassing 300 staff within Information Services. Establishing a customer focussed organisation engaging with the business and delivering excellent service that resulted in a positive career change to be in a more customer-focused role.From August 2012 I worked with the Director of IT Services and the Transformation Programme Manager in the development of IT Services strategy and the development/implementation of an Information Services Transformation programme to achieve a step improvement in IS capability in meeting the University's requirements. This included a readiness assessment with a partner and procurement to outsource the University network services to an external supplier along with an action plan to achieve this.From July 2010Responsibility for the Strategy and Leadership for Infrastructure including Infrastructure Architecture, Strategic Partnerships and Vendor Management, Infrastructure and Security Services, High Performance Computing Services and Data Centre Services. Accountable for over 40 members of staff and a Staffing, Operational and Strategic budget in excess of £3m.I was senior supplier and senior vendor manager for projects that predominantly used external suppliers to design and delivery IT projects and services including Identity and Access Management, Vets School Connectivity and International Connectivity Project that delivered Private lease lines in to China and Malaysia. In Addition to this a server virtualisation project that saved the University hundreds of thousands of pounds in Hardware, software and space. I was also a key driver behind the University’s first trial of cloud-based services by outsourcing student email to the Microsoft Cloud and were in discussions with a strategic partner to run the University’s infrastructure design and project delivery services.

Team Leadership for IT Infrastructure, Technical Architecture, and Data Centre management, act as an advisor in the areas of recruitment and development of staff across IT Systems, Performance Management, tackling difficult decisions and people, internationalisation of IT Infrastructure and services.

Programme & Project Management of large, complex organisational-wide IT infrastructure projects in both the UK and International campuses in China and Malaysia. I delivered the IT Infrastructure and services for green field campus builds in both China and Malaysia whilst being based in China and Malaysia. Delivered a new £1m Data Centre facility in the UK and delivered a £1m email migration project that migrated over 50,000 people from GroupWise and Exchange email in the UK using an external partners HP and ICM.

Lead a team supporting over 10 nursing sites across the east midlands and in October 2004 I volunteered to be the IT delivery lead for the University’s campuses in China and Malaysia to ensure successful expansion of the University that led to my promotion to Senior Project manager.
