I've been a supply teacher for 4 years, and in that time I've managed to deal with a wide number of stressful situations, in schools across the South Yorkshire area. I've had my flexibility and initiative refined by lessons rarely going to plan (assuming one was left), and my knowledge broadened by having to teach most topics under the curriculum at one point or another. Due to a reliance on public transport, I've had to dedicate more time for working than regular staff, often arriving first and leaving last in long-term placements.However, I feel my main achievement has simply been endurance - I have dealt with physical assaults, an endless torrent of verbal abuse and a few unfounded accusations from my students after revenge, which has taken a toll on me in my health and my finances, yet I have always endured. In a less hostile environment, I am certain to thrive and push forward to meet any challenge.As such, I am looking for work in a number of areas, particularly focused around STEM careers. However, I feel that my talents may be useful in a number of other careers, so I am open to learning new skills if they are required of me.
