Responsible - for the design of effective, efficient, economic datacenter & technical sites, including technical rooms, data racks and associated management systems. Ensure the technical sites meet the current and anticipated future requirements of the business, Support our customers and that we optimise the network and IT equipment requirements with power, space and cooling technical, maintenance and financial performance.Produce secure and resilient designs, documentation, implementation methodology, materials and resource requirements for equipment hosting and room management that comply with architecture, security, environmental and health & safety standards.Key Accountabilities • Produce cost effective datacenter technical site and rooms designs that provide optimal power, space & cooling solutions that serves the requirements of the hosted network and IT systems.• Ensure that all activities along with standards and designs produced are compliant with the required health & safety, environmental regulations, security accreditation, engineering standards and other applicable virgin media policies.• Conduct impact, capacity assessments and feasibility studies for new and future requirements, moves, additions and changes.• Ensures compliance with Virgin Media Health and Safety policies following the required processes at all times and by producing designs that identify and incorporate health & safety risk assessments with mitigating actions that ensure safe and compliant delivery of the technical solution.• Maintain an evolution plan for the technical site, rooms and management systems, working with key stakeholders to define the roadmap for continually improving technical accommodation management and performance.• Maintain the data centre infrastructure management (DCiM) and other systems ensuring that the technical site and room records, inventory and documentation are accurate and up to date.

Managing a department within Operations that includes the following -• A team of Network Deployment Engineers responsible for the deployment of Transmission, IP and CDN network euipment within the EMEA region. • A team of Critical Infrastructure Deployment Engineers responsible for site augments, Datacenter builds, DC/ ACUPS systems, Batteries, HVAC and Electrical Infrastructure builds, ensuring they are deployed to the correct standards and are handed over for acceptance to the Field Operations team.• Working with Change Management to ensure all the Network and Customer Risks are managed. • Writing technical documentation to support other departments within the business.• Using SAP and Oracle managing and maintaining departmental and project budgets.• Ensuring the deployment team meet the business metrics and customer SLA's.• Working with Vendors and strategic business partners.• Managing multiple projects using MS Project, Word, XL, Vision, Databases and Sharedrives.

Responsible for multiple electrical/mechanical CAPEX projects across GC Telecoms sites throughout UK & Ireland.Managing contractors & engineering staff ensuring that the projects are completed on time & within budget.Some of the current key projects are the rollout of a Building Management System that reports back across the DCN using SNMP traps to the GNOC. DC power and battery replacement projects at numerous sites & HVAC replacement ref R22 legislation.Brief overview of responsibilities -• Implementing Engineering Work Package according agreed contract between GC & local contractor• Instructing local contractor & site supervision• Monitoring & checking the local final design according regulations & design standards• Monitoring progress (time schedule/RFI dates), quality and project costs• Checking variation orders on technical and cost related issues• Reporting on status of projects and providing weekly project summaries
