Engineering Director Automotive
CurrentEngineering Director for FLIR's Automotive Team. Working to save lives by including thermal imaging in the ADAS and autonomous vehicles of tomorrow. Self-driving cars, trucks, drones, boats, construction, and robotaxis will soon be able to remove the driver and create a safer world. Currently over 1 Million people die in car accidents each year in the world and ~6K pedestrians are killed each year in the US. This is largely due to driver error. In the future, AI with multiple sensors and a smart city will create a safer, more productive world. Thermal imaging will be one of the AI's sensors enabling better night capability. But also better capability in challenging conditions in the day, poor weather, and will be the best pedestrian/animal classification sensor available. With over 15 years of thermal camera design experience and direct experience with large OEMs and Tier 1s, I have the unique capability to bring this technology to the ADAS & AV world. Currently working on releasing a new automotive thermal camera and AI capability in combination with sensor fusion (visible, radar, and thermal).
