OutlineLeading a team of 22 buyers, responsible for all aspects of Purchasing including Direct Material and MRO, additionally with a strong input into Logistics and Stores management for incoming material. Purchasing has been restructured by project and key supplier commodity with a focus on supplier rationalisation, relationship management and management by data following installation of KPI’s relevant to the business.

Key Responsibilities include:The process owner for all supply chain/procurement related activities.Develop, coordinate and execute local and global strategic sourcing initiatives.Strategically representing the assigned business units within the larger function of Global Supply Chain.Manage the daily operations of the Procurement team ensuring business needs are met.Drives spend and opportunity analyses to prioritize strategic sourcing opportunities.Builds and maintains solid relationships with supply chain partners.Establishes and implements countermeasures to compensate for negative performance and market trends.Leads the Supply Chain team to ensure period-over-period process improvements.Establishes annual goals and objectives and manages performance to assure attainment.Establishes and monitors adherence to agreed-on policies and procedures.Champions the strategic sourcing processes; ensures consistent application of processes; drives strategic thinking within the supply chain organization.Coordinates with Supply Chain, Quality and Engineering teams to ensure that quality and delivery are owned by the supply base and works toward zero defects.Establishes metrics based on Total Value versus Total Cost.Drives innovation and a focus on continuous improvement within the supply chain organizationResponsible for timely reporting of KPI’s and presentation of strategic sourcing plans.

To transition a medium sized family run business from a declining marketplace of high volume low variety product to one of flexible, low volume, high variety product. This required changes to be made in the areas of Sales, Purchasing, Logistics and Manufacturing.
