Background Picture Above: I captured a little bit of California’s beautiful landscape during a brief trip to Sonoma a few years ago. Growing up in a small town in Connecticut, I am amazed at the varying terrain across different parts of California…and that is after living in the Los Angeles area for 20 years! The photo reminds me of my farming hometown in CT that fills my mind with wonderful memories of friends and family. Education: Between 1995 and 1999, I spent most of my time at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Worcester, Massachusetts fulfilling a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. After a yearlong stop in Miami, Florida for a fire protection internship, I left the beaches of South Florida in 2001 and returned to New England in the middle of winter to complete my M.S. in Fire Protection Engineering. A pull to return to a beach climate or a push from early morning ice scraping and snow shoveling led me to Southern California.
