For nearly 5 years, I have managed a community pharmacy for Walgreens. Through operating at peak efficiency, prioritizing employee satisfaction, and building strong customer relationships our team has increased prescription count 36%. By showing each patient respect, showing empathy and the willingness to provide solutions to problems, pharmacists can improve health outcomes. I was on a first-name basis with a majority of my patients which allowed open communication and built trust while providing counseling on medication and making recommendations on OTC products. I worked with hospice to ensure that I maintained a stock of all regularly prescribed medications. I maintained ongoing relationships with patients undergoing cancer treatment, chronic pain therapy, and HIV/AIDS to ensure that their medication and emotional needs were met.I have decided to change my career path and leave the retail setting. While Walgreens has been an excellent opportunity for me, I want to move into a position where I can improve my skill set and have a greater effect on patient outcomes. I am temporarily working as an MTM pharmacist for AspenRx. I enjoy patient counseling and discussing goals of therapy with patients. I have experience performing medication therapy management and counseling through OutcomesMTM and through the AspenRx program.My strengths as a pharmacist include: fostering excellent patient relationships, providing excellent customer service, optimizing efficiency, providing immunization education, resolving insurance issues, and genuinely caring about the people that I serve. I have experience managing inventory including C2 inventory, inventory returns, and custom ordering to meet patient needs. One of the most important things to me in life is that I conduct myself in a manner that is consistent with my values. I believe most people are kind and understanding. Most issues can be improved in healthcare with better communication and understanding alternatives. If you hire me, you will be hiring an honest, reliable, and caring pharmacist. I graduated with honors from Virginia Tech with a biochemistry degree and with honors from VCU Pharmacy School.
